A Local History Conference at Hull

Jointly sponsored by The East Yorkshire Local History Society, The University of Hull History Department, Regional and Local History Degree Course.

Date: Saturday 1 November 2008
Venue: Ferens Art Gallery, Queen Victoria Square, Hull
Cost: £10 per head (buffet lunch and other refreshment included)

Seven papers will be given on the practice of local history in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire by local historians, archivists, academics and a publisher. There will be information stalls and local publications will be on sale.

Morning

John Walker on the Local History Degree Course
Dr Sue Parkinson, the editor of the Howdenshire volume of the VCH
John Markham on writing and publishing local history

Afternoon
David Smith on a new aspect of Paull
Paul Lever on the Hull Forgeries
Helen Good on the Elizabethan Star Chamber and local history.
